I love to read and continually learn. Gardening is a hobby I truly enjoy and find very relaxing and beneficial to have organic self grown garden items always readily available. Writing has always been a passion and I enjoy the world of crochet. To create through words, herbs, yarn, paint and anything else can be relaxing, rewarding and enjoyable.
I have been married for 27 years and love my life. I grew up and spent most of my life on the East Coast and have now made my life for the past six years in the Southwest. When I was nine, I had an incident which caused a brain trauma and caused me to have neurological issues as well as P.O.T.S. (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). I have learned over the years how to live and work with these problems. The effects have increased over the past few years, so re-adjustments are necessary from time to time. I have never let this get in the way of my life, or stop me from living how I choose. I use routines, basic stretches and exercises, added eating habits and herbal options to help create the active life I have chosen, living life regardless of the medical conditions. Living with P.O.T.S. and managing it most of my life has finally brought me to writing this blog. I live an active life, I work, attend college through online courses and enjoy my hobbies. Here I can share my story, and the routines and techniques which allow me to live life the way I choose while managing this syndrome. Whether what I have found to better manage P.O.T.S. can help you, or by each of us sharing we find answers together, or even for those who may find use in some information within these pages to create an easier and more relaxed life for yourself, it is a journey we can travel together. These and more is what I wish to share with you here.
My journey has taken me from childhood to adulthood, from functioning on a normal level to relearning everything from speech, memory, writing and walking to learning and accepting my abilities and my difficulties. How to manage the syndrome, how to work and continue my education by receiving my associate’s degree in Business Management and Accounting, Bachalor’s degree in Business Management and New Market Media and currently working on my Bachalor’s degree in Graphic Design. I love hiking, going for the day, riding and exploring in our UTV, camping and generally being outdoors. I grew up with the ocean and now live in the mountains backed by forests. The beauty of nature never gets old for me. Life is meant to be enjoyed and lived. Missing out on what life can offer, on the happiness I can find daily and the time spent with family and friends was never anything I was willing to give up even for a single day.
There may be days more difficult than others, days which seem a chore, but always I choose stubbornness over giving up – and what I call my happy or Zen space over complaining and letting the syndrome and bad days rule how I live. Some days may have less accomplished, but that’s ok. There are also the really good days, full of life, fun and accomplishment. The pages of this blog share my story, routines, information, research and insight in living life regardless of the medical conditions. I hope you will share your stories and findings along our journey together.
